Don’t be fooled by the cuteness of this prehistoric beast! Since the dawn of time, this guy has supplied us with a myriad of valid and not-so-valid reasons as to why we shouldn’t begin our creative projects. A sucker for instant gratification, this creative monster will try and delight you with distractions, to disengage you from your goals.

Bio: Put-It-Off-Osaurus is a dopey dino beast who seems mostly harmless, but can be quite dangerous to your creative process because he gives you all kinds of reasons not to get started. This monster lives in the attic of your creativity, up near your thought machine, and pushes phrases through your mind like “I’ll do that later”, and, “I’ll get to that as soon as I finish…” (insert mindless web browsing here). Put-It-Off is an immature creative monster who likes to take the easy way out – bona fide procrastination!

Symptoms: Distraction, idleness. Put-It-Off relishes in activities like watching you flick through Instagram stories of all those people you’ve never met, or refresh your Facebook feed just one more time in case there’s something new. Put-It-Off is all about the instant gratification rather than keeping his mind on long-term goals and progressive satisfaction. And watch out – his attitude is infectious!

Antidote: You’ll be able to take this dino to extinction, but it’ll take a bit of self work, and will certainly require determination, not procrastination! Not to worry, we’ve already identified a few tools to put in your belt and have on hand at all times while battling the not-so-harmless Put-It-Off-Osaurus. Check out our recent article with a handy little Tip List: How to Beat Creative Procrastination. Time to get cracking!
