Prepare to leave the cinema in a whirlwind of emotion. Madman’s documentary film, McQueen, will have your jaw dropping, head shaking and neighbour gasping. Frankly, this film will leave you with a different outlook on life, removing those rose coloured glasses and replacing them with crystal cut lenses, gilded skull frames covered in elaborate beading, dripping with grime and sweat.

Showcases the inspiring and tragic tale of Lee Alexander McQueen, the film highlights his immense passion, talent and love for fashion. Boasting intimate interviews with his closest friends, family and never before seen footage of the designer’s private life, the film is well rounded with a plethora of behind the scenes footage of his fashion career.

Undoubtedly McQueen’s calling, fashion was his creative outlet to challenge and understand himself and the world we live in. From his rebellious early years to the darker aspects of his later life, the filmmaker’s bridge each chapter with hauntingly beautiful digital animations of elaborate skulls, birds and floral imagery, signature to the McQueen brand. The film captures the immense pressure McQueen was under as he travelled between London and Paris designing up to 14 collections a year for Givenchy (later Gucci) and his own label, Alexander McQueen. Despite the underlying tone of loneliness, the film captures McQueen’s playful side, his dark sense of humour and deep love for his family and friends.

Delving deep into the raw beauty, uninhibited talent, passion and his volatile nature, McQueen is a must-see for anyone interested art, fashion and what it means to be creative and human in the world today.
