October is shaping up to be a mighty month for our Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne studios. We’re debuting brand new paintings and paint and sip concepts, painting our inner queens with the most fabulous drag queens in town, and running pop up painting events in parks, vineyards, and at the beach! Read on to find out what’s sparkly and new at a studio near you.
We’re absolutely thrilled to launch our brand new painting concept this month, called… drumroll, please… Partner Paint! Calling teams of two, this one’s for you. While these sessions run very similarly to our regular paint and sip sessions, they have been specially designed for partners of all kinds. Grab your date, mum, or bestie: this is a creative collaboration like nothing we’ve seen before! Each partner will paint their own full-size canvas, but match it with their partner’s along the way to create one larger, unified scene. The horizon lines and mountain ranges meet in the middle, the skies blend together, and the two halves of the island come together to create a whole. It’s our painting equivalent of a friendship necklace! With that said, each half of our ‘Love Island’ painting is designed to look complete on its own, and can therefore also be achieved by solo painters and larger groups. Imagine that – you could paint one really loooooong island, or create a whole bay full of them! Whoever you bring along, it’s sure to be a wonderful time connecting creatively.
Speaking of paintings, we’ve got another newbie coming your way this October: the dreamy Wisteria Lane. This whimsical, textural painting lends itself to all kinds of colour schemes, and loosely reminds us of one of our all time crowd favourites, Bespoke Romance! While creating this charming scene you’ll be able to brush up on various painting techniques such as dabbing, dry-brushing, and carving grainy wood texture into the old door. Don’t worry, your trusty Cork & Chroma artist will walk you through it, step by step! Just bring your favourite people and your favourite bevy, and leave the rest to us.
We’ll be welcoming a crowning lineup of drag queens back to our studios this October, with events across all three cities. First up in Melbourne on October 15th we’ll paint with Art Simone, the reigning ‘Queen of Australia’ and ‘Drag Performer of the Year’ for two years running! Hop to it kweens, this one’s almost sold out. The devilish Sellma Soul will be haunting our South Brisbane studio this Halloween for a spooky evening of paint and sip! She’ll have you rolling around in laughter, hypnotised by her unique and artful style, coaxing you to unleash your Inner Queen on canvas. The same weekend in Sydney, we’ll welcome The Glamour Bug Etcetera Etcetera (who saw Season 1 of Rupaul’s Drag Race Down Under?) back to our Surry Hills studio for an evening of drag artistry and self-expression. Our Paint Your Inner Queen sessions encourage you to express all of what makes you fabulous, and are always a monthly highlight at Cork & Chroma. Yassss, queen! Also, just quietly, if you’re looking to organise a hens party, consider rallying the queens for a night of fabulous, frivolous fun.
Melbournian locals are in luck this October, because we’re heading back to Elmswood Estate’s beautiful cellar door in the Yarra Valley for a balmy afternoon of painting and wine tasting. Art there a better combination? We’ll be painting a new calendar favourite, Cinque Terre, whilst enjoying the views of the lush sprawling vineyards, snacking on cheese, and tasting the season’s finest grape offerings. If you’re going to paint and sip, this is a pretty spectacular way to do it.
In Sydney we’ll be slipping, slopping, and slapping paint around with a beachside painting pop up! Kick back and relax with views of Manly beach as you paint a summery scene and order from Hotel Steyne’s Beach Bar and Bistro. This is our first time making a splash in Manly, and we can’t wait to dip our toes in.
As always, thank you for your support, and for joining us online, in our studios, and at special events. Painting’s better done together, and we’re glad you’re here. Keep an eye on our social media channels as more events roll out.
Paint and sip — that’s us for sure. But did you know? We’re so much more!
All the options, no restraints. All you need to do is paint.
